Lori Noel Samson, 67, of Portsmouth, VA, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, after a courageous ten-year battle with renal cancer, surrounded by love.
Born on January 11, 1959, Lori was the beloved daughter of the late Philip Noel and Gloria Tucker of Virginia Beach, VA. She was welcomed in heaven by her brother, David Noel. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and at peace.
Lori built a career in the service industry, spending many years bartending throughout the Virginia Beach area and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. Known for her quick wit and compassionate spirit, she made lasting impressions on countless friends and patrons. Lori was loved by so many, and her final place of work was VFW Post 993 in Portsmouth, VA, where she continued doing what she did best – connecting with people and brightening their day.
Above all else, Lori’s greatest pride was her children, Christy Worrell (Brandon) of Apex, NC; Justin Samson of Portsmouth; and Jessica Samson and Conrad Samson, Jr. of Virginia Beach. As “Nanny,” she treasured every moment with her grandchildren, Luke Tesoro, Cassia Hargis, and Matthew Hargis, Jr. all of Virginia Beach, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Survivors also include her partner of 25 years, Kevin Kerwin; her brother, Don Noel, and sister, Lisa Noel, of Portsmouth; her sister, Anne (Tom) Singleton of Suffolk; her niece, Beth Walker; her nephews, Jayme Noel and Gregory Richardson; her aunt, Judy (Bernard) Tracey of Rye, NH; a special great-niece, Cheyenne Wright; and a host of cousins and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Our mom, sister, partner, and friend inspired us all. Her faith carried her through life’s hardest moments, giving her the strength she needed. She will forever be our angel, watching over the family she loved so much.
Friends may join the family for a celebration of life at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be offered at vacremationsociety.com.
