George M. Williams, a beloved husband and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 72. Born on July 6, 1953, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, George was known for his gentle spirit and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
George served with pride on the Washington D.C. police department, a career that brought him great fulfillment and honor. In his later years, he followed in the footsteps of his beloved grandfather and worked as a security guard at the Newport News Shipyard, where he was respected for his diligence and commitment to his work.
An avid horseback rider, George found solace in the companionship of animals, especially dogs, which he adored. His love for animals was only surpassed by the love he had for his wife, Sherry Williams, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He cherished the peaceful moments spent relaxing at home and treasured the time shared with his wife, Sherry, and their close circle of friends. Together, George and Sherry celebrated their anniversaries with memorable trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas, and frequently enjoyed quick getaways to the Outer Banks.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Treible; his stepfather, Ernest “Pete” Treible Sr.; his sister, Carolyn Ludwig; and his brother-in-law, Paul Ludwig.
George leaves behind his devoted wife, Sherry, and dear friends, Katherine and John “Chip” Robeson and Tracey Mincey, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
George was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. He is and always will be greatly missed and loved by those he touched. In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned at this time. Those who knew George will remember him for his kind heart, gentle nature, and the warmth he brought into their lives. May he rest in peace.
