Philip L. Preisach, 65 passed away Thursday April 23, 2026 in Norfolk, VA.
Phil was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the oldest son of the late Phil and Sara Preisach. Phil had a warm and loving home growing up with his sisters and brothers and enjoyed many family adventures.
Phil continued those warm family traditions after meeting and marrying Wendy and starting their own family. Phil loved sports, especially golf and was an avid softball player in his early days. He was a master automotive transmission builder by trade and masterful musician by choice. He was a vocalist and guitarist in several bands before forming 54 Steps in the mid 1990’s. With 54 Steps he co-wrote 2 original albums of material.
Phil and his family moved to Norfolk, VA in late 1998 and in no time he joined a new band and started performing. He then reformed 54 Steps and recorded another CD of original material. He performed with his band for almost 20 years in the Norfolk Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The Triad Band was his most recent project and with this band he hosted several Open Mic Nights and met and mentored many wonderful local musicians.
Phil was compassionate and loved talking with people and to spread the good word of Jesus. He did this by his engaging conversations and the lyrics of his songs. Phil will be forever remembered by those who loved and knew him as “ A Good and Faithful Servant”.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Wendy; children, Philip (Julie), Victoria (Chris), and Angela; grandchildren, Amira, Brenna, Damian, Caera and Lucian; his siblings, Kathy (George), Joe (Pam), and Sueann (Ed); mother-in-law, Linda; nephews, James ( Mindy) and Ethan ( Maribeth); niece, Kait (Chuck); a great niece, Isabella; brother in law, Gregg, and his many cousins.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents , brother, Rich, father-in-law, John, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
