Philip L. Preisach, 65 passed away Thursday April 23, 2026 in Norfolk, VA.

Phil was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the oldest son of the late Phil and Sara Preisach. Phil had a warm and loving home growing up with his sisters and brothers and enjoyed many family adventures.

Phil continued those warm family traditions after meeting and marrying Wendy and starting their own family. Phil loved sports, especially golf and was an avid softball player in his early days. He was a master automotive transmission builder by trade and masterful musician by choice. He was a vocalist and guitarist in several bands before forming 54 Steps in the mid 1990’s. With 54 Steps he co-wrote 2 original albums of material.

Phil and his family moved to Norfolk, VA in late 1998 and in no time he joined a new band and started performing. He then reformed 54 Steps and recorded another CD of original material. He performed with his band for almost 20 years in the Norfolk Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The Triad Band was his most recent project and with this band he hosted several Open Mic Nights and met and mentored many wonderful local musicians.

Phil was compassionate and loved talking with people and to spread the good word of Jesus. He did this by his engaging conversations and the lyrics of his songs. Phil will be forever remembered by those who loved and knew him as “ A Good and Faithful Servant”.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Wendy; children, Philip (Julie), Victoria (Chris), and Angela; grandchildren, Amira, Brenna, Damian, Caera and Lucian; his siblings, Kathy (George), Joe (Pam), and Sueann (Ed); mother-in-law, Linda; nephews, James ( Mindy) and Ethan ( Maribeth); niece, Kait (Chuck); a great niece, Isabella; brother in law, Gregg, and his many cousins.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents , brother, Rich, father-in-law, John, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His family would love for you to come and say goodbye and share your favorite memories of him on May 8, 2026 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations located at 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 from 3-7 pm.

Phil and I and lot of our friends from Unity had many great times together, way to many to even count. I will always remember Phil as a great fiend, athlete, and musician, and a believer. Sending prayers to Wendy and the family. Rest in Peace Phil, we'll see you again someday.

So sorry to hear of Phil's passing, I remember Phil from high school we had a couple classes together, I instantly liked him, he was a good guy.

Wendy, PJ, Vicky, and Angie... I am so sorry to have learned of Phil's passing. He was a great friend and I'm sorry that time and distance put a gap between us. We had fun times together and it was a pleasure to have been in bands with him and being his friend. I wish I had talked with him more. He has a good soul. I will miss him. i am so sad by the news of Phil --Phileepe as i would call him -- his passing --- he was such a good man --- i have a flood of memories -- every one of them in smiles and laughter -- always the laughter -- Wendy always opened her home graciously -- you always think -- i'll get down there this year and a year goes by --well - next year -- and it goes by -- you never think -- this - that he will be gone -- we made great music together - but the after the show - was always best in their -Phil and Wendy's- company -- he was one of a kind -- i will miss him -- we were lucky to play one more time together up here - last year -- and of course -Wendy and him made it happen -- i'm grateful for that last rockin' good time -- my friend -- forever R.I.P
