Portsmouth, VA – Mary Ellen Chevalier, born on March 9, 1944, in Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 5, 2026, in Portsmouth, VA, at the age of 82. She dedicated her life to the care and support of others through her work as an Occupational Therapist Assistant with United Cerebral Palsy, where she touched many lives with her compassion and dedication.
Mary Ellen was a devoted member of her family, cherishing the time spent with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronn Chevalier; her parents, William Edward Lynch and Genevieve Crocker Williams; and two siblings Tom (Vicky) Lynch and Kathy Henry. Her legacy lives on through her son, Michael Tierney; her daughter, Kimberly Tierney; her three grandchildren, Alisha (Dan) Zolet, Mikey (Alex) Tierney, Corrine (Collen) Pfaff; and her three great-grandchildren, with a fourth expected soon which Mary Ellen was very excited about.
A private family burial will be held at Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin,New York at a later date. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
