Another photo of Rich in active naval service aboard USS George Bancroft (SSBN-643). Photo shot aboard USS George Bancroft during crew turnover period, Navigation Center middle passageway between the two Ships Inertial Navigation Systems (SINS). Blue Crew Leading SINS Technician ET1(SS) John "Ole" Olsson on right in undress blues, Gold Crew Leading SINS Technician ET1(SS) Rich Crockford in working uniform faces camera, and perhaps that's Blue Crew leading Chief Bud Warren in naval khaki uniform with backside toward camera as he listens to a SINS technical conservation.

To Janet, Richard, Kevin, and Michael: Please accept our sincere condolences on the untimely passing of Rich Sr. In the 1960s I knew Rich as a top electronics professional in naval submarine service aboard USS George Bancroft (SSBN-643). Rich is recalled as a competent pre-commissioning "643 Plank Owner" -- and in later patrols we were contemporary leading SINS Techs, Rich in the Gold Crew – and me with the Blue Crew. More recently I've especially enjoyed our sea-story visits during several 643 crew reunion events... now remembering Rich as a truly gifted and interesting family-oriented man. We share your sadness in learning this news of Rich's passing -- he is now on the minds of the many friends and associates who had the pleasure of working with and knowing your beloved submariner Master Chief Petty Officer Richard “Rich” Crockford, ETCM(SS), United States Navy (retired). Thank you Rich for your gallant naval service! Rest-In-Peace, and may Fair Winds and Following Seas bless your future course. Sincere regards, DJ Paul
