Perrysburg, OH – Irene Ann Lindgren, born on January 19, 1950, in Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 6, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 76.
Irene dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a devoted mother and grandmother and throughout her professional career. After receiving her Associate Degree, she worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many. She later continued her career as a nursing case manager at Principal Financial before retiring.
Irene’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and was a nurturing presence in their lives. She was an exceptional crocheter and also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and researching family ancestry. Her kindness and warmth will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Irene is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Murdock McLeod and Dolores Hanna McLeod, and her precious granddaughter, Emma Lindgren, who passed away at the end of last year. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her three children, Michael Lindgren, Ann Friedman (Brian), and Joseph Lindgren (Maria); her three brothers, Arthur McLeod, Loren McLeod, and Murdock McLeod; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family. Family and friends are invited to share online condolences and memories at www.vacremationsociety.com.
