NORFOLK – An amazing lady, resilient, devoted to her family and her country, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, two weeks shy of her 107th birthday. Her life began shortly after WWI and of great concern, was the state of affairs in the world as it exists today. She was a news junkie as much as it pained her. She was the best Mother, using all her capabilities to direct one very tough assignment, her only surviving child.
She was born to Florence Weisjahn Benson and Cecil David Benson on June 12th 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Col. Jack I. Hamlin, USA, Ret., and their son Benson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Daura Christopher Hamlin, DDS and devoted son-in-law, Thomas Waite Hubbard, MD, JD.
One could not possibly list all of her accomplishments but suffice it to say, she did life her way, and one cannot dispute her methods for achieving happiness and longevity.
Burial will be private at Arlington National Cemetery, next to her best friend ever and husband, Jack. A much deserved peace and eternal rest is your reward for a full life, well lived.
