Virgie Rose Sanders, a radiant soul who graced this world on March 24, 1935, in Danville, VA, departed peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Newport News, VA, at the age of 90.

Virgie’s life was a testament to dedication and love. She served as a secretary for the Governor’s Office of Tennessee for an impressive 30 years, where her professionalism and commitment left a lasting impact. Her work ethic extended beyond the office as she also contributed her talents to the retail sector in Memphis, Tennessee, working part-time for many years.

Outside of her professional life, Virgie nurtured her passions with grace and joy. She found solace and inspiration in Church Bible study, and her love for nature was evident in her bird-watching and the vibrant flowers she planted in her yard. Her playful spirit shone brightly during card games and Rumicube sessions with her cherished family and friends. Virgie’s heart belonged to the beach, where she created countless treasured memories with her loved ones.

A beautiful soul inside and out, Virgie was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds, touching the hearts of everyone she met. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nancy and Coy D. Jones, Virgie is survived by her devoted daughter, Kim Gwynn, and son-in-law, Neal Gwynn. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward her extraordinary spirit and zest for life.
