Edward James Sciortino, affectionately known as Eddie, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 78. Born on April 14, 1948, at the Argentia Naval Base in Newfoundland, Eddie lived a life marked by dedication to his craft and a deep love for the sea.
Eddie attended Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Following his education, he followed in his family’s footsteps and served honorably as a veteran of the United States Navy, where he developed his skills and passion for electrical work. After his service, Eddie continued his career as an electrician , where he was highly respected for his expertise and commitment.
An avid fisherman, Eddie found joy and tranquility in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. His love for fishing was well-known among his family and friends, who often joined him on his many adventures at sea.
Eddie is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph Sciortino and Elizabeth Toarello Sciortino and his son, Edward Sciortino. He is survived by his devoted sister, Katherine S. Walker (Bobby) and his loving brother, Joseph Paul Sciortino (Mary) as well as extended family, Tony Sciortino, Mary Frances Gregory ,Chas Faison, Cindy, Chris Faison, Amy, Peyton Ellenor, Jack, and many friends who will cherish his memory and remember him fondly. A heartfelt thank you to Doug Fondren for his devoted care and friendship.
In accordance with Eddie’s wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held at the Chesapeake Bay, where his spirit will forever rest among the waves he cherished so dearly. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this time of remembrance.
