Carolyn Adele Russell, affectionately known as Adele, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 84.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents Raymond F. Russell and Carolyn J. Russell and her beloved sister, Dolores Elm. Adele dedicated many years of her life to serving others through her work in healthcare as a longtime employee of Sentara Hospital. Her commitment to caring for others reflected her compassionate nature and strong work ethic. Adele was also very dedicated and loving to her two dogs, Ginger and Maggie.
In addition to her full life in Virginia Beach, Adele spent many years enjoying time at her Nags Head, NC condominium. Adele fostered many lasting friendships and memories with the people she met there.
She is survived by her brother, George S. Russell (Steve), as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish her memory and the lasting impact she made on their lives.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 21, 2026, at Norfolk Forest Lawn Cemetery, Area “J”, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23505.
Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Adele’s life and legacy. There will be a brunch following the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech Veterinary School) to supplement the scholarship that Adele has funded.
