Linda Ann Kenney, age 83, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
Born on December 19, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, Linda was the daughter of Katharina and Harry Ultzen. She spent her childhood on the family’s boat yard in Island Park, New York. After marrying her husband, Thomas Kenney, who served in the U.S. Navy, the couple lived in California for several years before eventually settling in Virginia Beach. Together they built a life, raised their family, and spent 46 years in the same home, where they became known as kind and generous neighbors.
Linda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching the dogs at the dog park, caring for her flowers and plants, visiting the beach, enjoying a hot cup of coffee, eating delicious food and watching QVC. She could ‘shop’ for hours going from store to store, and never buy a thing. She especially loved cooking and baking and was famous for her crisp chocolate chip cookies. She was happiest in her backyard, where she found peace in the sound of the birds and the beauty of her flower garden.
Those who knew her well might describer her as ‘sweet and spicy.’ She was quick to decide if she liked someone…or not. If you were lucky enough to land on her good side, you were treated to her warmth and kindness. If you happened to catch her spicy side, you always knew exactly where you stood. Linda had a quirky sense of humor. She would often tell silly jokes to lighten the mood. Her laugh was particularly infectious.
A devoted homemaker for much of her life, Linda also worked a variety of jobs over the years, including with Lillian Vernon, Tidewater Sitting Service, and the nursery at First Baptist Church. She loved children and found great joy caring for them. Above all else, Linda’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She loved her children deeply and never stopped caring for them.
Linda is survived by her children, Donald Kenney and Christina Fisher; her son-in-law, Robert Fisher; and her beloved grandchildren, Myles Fisher and Cleo Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Kenney, and her beloved brother, Eric Ultzen.
The family would like to thank the staff and community at Marian Manor for their compassion, kindness, and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 5, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Marian Manor. Linda never cared much for sadness and would much rather have a party. In honor of her love of flowers and colorful gardens, guests are encouraged to wear bright colors or floral attire.
Momma —We will miss you dearly, but will keep you alive in our hearts every day. She taught those around her to appreciate life’s simple joys—a beautiful flower, a good cup of coffee, a homemade cookie, and the comfort of knowing someone was thinking about you.
