Geraldine Holt Nicholson passed away on June 24, 2026, in her hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 79. She was born on February 14, 1947, in Norfolk to the late Beulah and Wilbert Holt. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Butch Hess, and her brothers, Harold and Howard Holt.

Gerri dedicated 37 years of her professional life as an office manager at Mama Kayer’s Bakery, where her dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Her work was not just a job but a testament to her commitment and passion.

Outside of her career, Gerri found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored her pets, who were her constant companions. She loved playing games like Yahtzee and Scrabble, often sharing laughter and friendly competition with family and friends. Gerri cherished spending time outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature around her. She also loved a sweet treat, especially ice cream.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Deena Nicholson; her cherished granddaughters, Trinity Eaton and Neena Nicholson; her dear cousins: Connie Bennett, Bonnie Price, and Betty Underwood; and many extended relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations located at 5401 Indian River Road in Virginia Beach.
