Stephen Castleton Ferguson Jr., affectionately known as Steve, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Yorktown, Virginia, at the age of 79. Born on May 21, 1947, in Bronx, New York, Steve lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to his family and work.
Steve graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York, which laid the foundation for his successful career as an Electric Drafting Engineer. His professional life was marked by precision and a commitment to excellence, qualities that he carried into all aspects of his life.
Beyond his career, Steve was a man of diverse interests. He had a passion for traveling and sight-seeing, always eager to explore new places and cultures. Camping trips were a cherished pastime, where he found joy in the simplicity and beauty of nature. A devoted fan of Star Trek, Steve often found inspiration in its themes of exploration. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, sharing meals and creating lasting memories.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Stephen Ferguson Sr. and Mary Alice Davis. He is survived by his loving wife, Yuexian Ferguson; his daughters, Nicole Payne and Lyraine Zhang; his son, Hal Ferguson; his son-in-law, Ken Payne; and his cherished grandchildren, Justin Spaulding, Anthony Troy Averett Jr., Michael Averett, and Brianna Averett. Steve’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever remember his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.
