Kent L. Poe, 80, of Virginia Beach, died Saturday, August 26, 2017. Born in Beckley, WV to Everett and Helen (Beckelheimer) Poe, he lived most of his childhood in different coal mining towns across southern West Virginia, before heading off to WVU in 1955.
Kent is survived by his wife Sue of 59 years of marriage, sons John (Beth) Poe of Acworth, GA and Chris (Dianna)Poe of Charlottesville, VA, grandchildren Tucker, Ryan, Emily, Connor and Jake Poe and brothers Dale Poe of Roanoke, VA, Tom Poe of Beckley, WV and JD Poe of Kingsport, TN.
Blessed with a keen sense of humor Kent could spin a good story and enjoyed spending time with his family especially at the family farm on the banks of 2nd creek in Ronceverte, WV. Kent spent most of his professional life with IBM and enjoyed retirement tinkering with his many ingenious “inventions” around the house.
There will be a family memorial service in Ronceverte, WV on Saturday, Sept. 9.
