Jewel Ann Wickline Snyder, 64, passed away peacefully December 1, 2018 at Sentara Hospice House after a short battle with cancer. Jewel was born October 15, 1954, in the midst of Hurricane Hazel, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Amherst Hampton and Reva Mae Wickline.

Jewel graduated from Hampton High School in 1972. Jewel was a woman of many talents – an expert seamtress, gardener, upholsterer, painter etc., whatever Jewel put her mind to she was able to figure it out and do it. Jewel was an extremely thoughtful, kind person always willing to lend a helping hand to all. She was always looking for things to make someone’s day bright, even the smallest token like a card to say she was thinking of you. Jewel enjoyed traveling having recently gone to Mozambique, a trip of a lifetime, for a convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and for hopes of riding an elephant. Also, her recent family trip to New York, and her annual excursion to Gap Mills, WV for the Wickline Reunion. Jewel was baptized in 1969 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and died faithfully serving Jehovah for over 49 years.

Jewel’s husband, Donald Snyder, preceded her in death, also her sister, Reva Ruth Cahoon. Jewel is survived by her son, Caleb Massengill and spouse, Meggan, of Smithfield, VA, and her daughter, Reva Mae Santiago and spouse, Raymond, of Wakefield, VA. She is survived by three brothers and one sister, Amherst (Butch) Wickline, Jr. and spouse, Linda, of Chesapeake, VA; William Wickline and spouse, Elizabeth, of Norfolk, VA; Charles Wickline and spouse, Diana, of Springtown, TX; Wilma Herman and spouse, Timothy, of Bergen, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kelly Lueth, Henley Massengill, Cecilia Massengill, Michael Swindell, III, Amelia Swindell, Selina Santiago, and Devin Santiago. Her beloved, Aunt Lyda Ruth Wickline Simpson, Uncle Gillett Wickline, and numerous cousins. She is survived by ten nieces and nephews, twenty great-nieces and nephews, and seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, December 8 th at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3662 Humboldt Street, Norfolk, VA.
