Capt. Seth W. Baldwin II SC USN ret., 80, resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully on March 24, 2019 with family close to him both physically and in spirit.

Seth is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen, his children Charles Baldwin (Lisa), Cheryl Curtis (Bob), Robert Baldwin (Debbie), Leslie Crumpton (Mike) and Victoria Thomson (Sam), his brother Ted Baldwin and sister Betsy Baldwin. Seth was the proud grandpa to 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Chelsea, Dustin, Seth, Samantha, Bailey, Breanne, Shane and Jason and great-grandpa to Jake, Kierin, and Benjamin.

Seth proudly served his country for over 29 years as a naval officer and Vietnam Veteran. During his service in the navy he received the Legion of Merit (2), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Naval Achievement Medal (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E” Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal (2) and Vietnam Service Medal. He had a successful post military career in the information technology field working with the federal government. Seth loved spending time with his family, working in the yard, camping and traveling with his wife Karen.

Seth will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please remember Seth with memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.

Seth was the Naval Officer that I most admired and respected — the ultimate Supply Corps Officer. A visionary. A bright light that still shines.

My condolences to Karen and all the family. Seth and I served together on active duty and he gave me my first job after retirement. Always a great friend and a true supporter of those of us climbing the ranks behind him. Will be missed dearly.

Seth Baldwin was the best Naval Office that I ever worked for. He was my mentor and friend and knowing him made me a better person. Rest In Peace Seth.

Seth was a wonderful Navy friend to all of us in the Hobie Woods family when we were stationed in Bremerton, WA in the 1970's. Seems like only yesterday that our daughters Amy and Katey were in pre-school with Tory. Seth always cared about his junior officers and their families, and Karen was certainly his partner in arms! May he rest in peace.

Seth meant so much to me during my career. He was a mentor - a coach - a champion and a true friend. He and Karen will always be in my thoughts.
