Leonard “Lennie” James Major, 67, of Carrollton, died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at home. He leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Judy Major; his son, Brandon (Stacey) Major of Yorktown, VA; step-son Chris (Kasey) Rivera of Newport News; step-daughter Candace (Blair) Gregory of Alabaster, AL and six grandchildren Anabelle and Deacon Major, Noah and Taylor Rivera, and Connor and Tristan Gregory. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley Paige and Agnes Major.
Lennie graduated from Bethel High School in 1971. In 2017, he retired from Hampton City Schools, after 28 years of service in the Transportation Department, where he worked as supervisor in the bus garage. He will be dearly missed by his friends and colleagues in the school system.
Lennie was an easy-going man with a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family, golfing, watching movies, going to casinos and eating all things peanut butter. He cherished his time relaxing in his favorite vacation spot in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Lennie was loved beyond measure and will remain always in our hearts.
Service will be at Calvary Assembly of God (1380 N. Mallory St, Hampton) Monday April 29th at 6 pm with visitation following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
