Newport News – Geneieve Jackson Rivero, 57, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 after a long courageous battle with cancer and has joined her beloved Roc to dance in the sky.

Genny was born in Hampton, VA on April 17, 1962. She had a great love for family and friends and was always the life of the party. Genny had a one of a kind laugh that was contagious and recognizable anywhere. She loved spending time at the camper with family and friends at Tuckers Recreation Park and Marine. Genny was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joaquin “Rocky” Rivero, and parents, Wayne Jackson and Martha McQuillen Porfilio.

She is survived by three brothers, Wayne Jackson (Barbara), William Jackson, Robert Jackson (Theresa); nephew, Jeremiah and niece, Hailey.

A celebration of life service officiated by Reverend Carol Bookwalter will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2101 Mark Pine Rd, Hayes, VA 23072.

In Genny’s memory donations may be made to Bethlehem UMC, PO. Box 185, Bena, VA 23018 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Nancy Dransfield, 7274 Joseph Lewis Road, Hayes, VA 23072.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a great person. She had a laugh that was not only recognizable, but infectious. It would always make you laugh too. Anyone who has been in or around the car business, knew Ginny!!! She was such a fighter. We had hoped she had finally kicked cancers ass. But unfortunately it came back with a vengeance and took her away. But now she’s not in pain anymore. She’s with her love. God bless you Ginny , you were one of a kind. I pray that they will find a cure for all cancers and take this horrible disease and put it in a book. Tgat in our grandchildren s years , it will only be something they can read about and never have to experience. Till we meet again sweet giggly Ginny.

The past 10 years tore us apart in many ways. None of it was right we were inseparable as kids. Things happen other people got involved and it never returns to how it used to be. A lot of what happened was out of our control. I loved you dearly we’ve had more good times then I could think of. And those are the times I’ll cherrish and remember forever. Rest your soul dear cousin. You are now at peace.

To a wonder friend Genny you are so loved by family and friends and will be deeply missed but we will kept in are hearts forever dear friend, go dance with Rocky the love of you life that was taken to early in life. No more pain and suffering for you my dear Genny, RIP

Genny Girl, You took a piece of my heart with you to heaven. Watch over us that are happy that you are with Roc, but will miss you beyond words. Much love to your dear family an friends that grieve. Hug my mom long & hard.

Genny was the strongest, bravest, most up beat person I have ever met. She was truly amazing, and will be missed by so many.

I will miss Genny but glad her suffering is finally over - she was a wonderful friend.
