Continue ReadingKurt Norman Peters, 58, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 after a too short battle with cancer. Kurt was born in Bethesda, Maryland. The youngest of 4 children, his military family lived in several states before settling in Va. Beach, Va. He graduated from Bayside High School in 1979 and went on to finish 2 years of college.
Kurt served his country by joining the Marines in 1986. He did tours of duty in Japan, California, Korea, Cuba, and Iraq. It was during this time he met his wife, had his first daughter, worked for Intel in Oregon and returned with his family in 1998 in Chesapeake, Va. where his second daughter was born. Kurt was working for the DoD at Portsmouth Naval Hospital at the time of his passing. His coworkers were very supportive during his struggles with cancer and his family is grateful for their continued support.
Kurt fully embraced his wife’s large extended family. He enjoyed large holiday family meals and Fantasy Football with the cousins. He will always be remembered as Grill Master/Cowboy Super Fan/Parrot Head/ Puzzle Master/ Soccer Coach.
Kurt was preceded in death by his father, William Peters and his brothers, Karl and Bill. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorraine A. Peters; his daughters, Victoria and Delaney; his mother, Barbara Peters; his sister, Lynne Peters; his sister-in-law, Barbara Z. Johnson (Al) and a host of cousin-by-marriage.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2 at 2p.m. at Ebenezer Methodist Church in Suffolk, Va. Following the service, a reception will he held at the family home. Online condolences maybe offered to the family at vacremationsociety.com.
