Dick it is hard to believe how fast time goes. I look back to when you were my Flight Surgeon in VR 56 and my FAA AME and realized it has been over thirty years. It was always a joy to have you on my flights along with those long conversations we had. Whenever there was a problem you were always there to help. As we go through life we have many acquaintances but few true friends. You have been a true friend to me. Chuck Lauer Until we meet again

Doc Carlson was my first flight surgeon in Hawaii and again in VR-56 in Norfolk. He was always interested in Naval Aviation and completely dedicated to "his" squadron members. He was also my FAA Doc for many years and never failed to help with any physical problems. He will be missed in the Aviation community sorely. He was a true professional and great friend.

Upon meeting he always had a question or comment about our pilot friends, and the inevitable "How is he or she? Doc and his family are in our prayers. We look forward to seeing him again in Haven. Fair winds and following seas Shipmate.
