Clarence "Dewey" Buschert

November 11, 1945 - August 8, 2019

Clarence “Dewey” Buschert, 73, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He was born in Boyne City, Michigan to the late Iva Mae Crawford and Clarence E. Buschert. Dewey is also predeceased by his two brothers, Norman and Warren Buschert and his sister, Ann Jean Dyer.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Deborah Buschert, his son, Matthew Buschert(Kristi), daughter, Rachel Vaziralli(Raheem), grandchildren, Riley and Xander Buschert, Rami and River Vaziralli, and many nieces and nephews.

Dewey was a graduate of United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, class of 1971. He went on to join the Navy where he served as part of the Office of Naval Intelligence. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, billiards player, race power walker, bowler and joke teller. Dewey has been an active member of Providence Presbyterian Church where he was a choir member and musician.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11am at Providence Presbyterian Church, 5497 Providence Rd., Virginia Beach, Virginia, 23464. Hi Debbie, Matt and Rachel - I just received the obituary from your local paper (mom mailed it to me) and I was shocked to learn about Dewey's passing. I only have fond memories of all of you and in particular Dewey. I’ve never forgotten the times I could hear him playing the piano in the house while I was playing outside and I’d run to your front door to make a request. Then there were the times we would play chess together, or the time he came next door to a party I held and he played the piano while another attendee would sing. I’m sure he still enjoyed telling everyone about the babysitter incident (I’m 50 now and I haven’t changed!) I hope everyone is doing as well as can be and he will definitely be missed.

No more bird or animal calls Rising from a curly white head. No more jokes and crazy riddles but, many wonderful memories of sat. Night trips to the detention home and all our meetings with fun tales and laughs. He will be missed but was due to have a peaceful ending.

Dear Debbi & family, We knew Dewey just from meeting him at Bow Creek. His humor lightened our day. What an accomplished man he was! We hope your memories with him will bring solace to your hearts. I will always remember his jokes. They were the best. You will be missed, Dewey.

The Boyd family will remember all the great memories and times spent with Dewey at family parties and holidays. He always had a great sense of humor, a joke to tell and a smile on his face. We will cherish every moment spent with him and send prayers and thoughts to his family and close relatives/friends. He will be missed but forever in our hearts!
