Margaret Rose Nicol, 79, of Virginia Beach, went home to be with Jesus September 30, 2019, while family was by her side.
She was born to the late Hugh and Margaret Brady, March 23, 1940, in New Jersey. Margaret graduated from Saint Cecilia High School in 1958.
She married Arthur Barry Nicol in 1961, and they lived together in Ringwood New Jersey for 36 years before relocating to West Milford, New Jersey and then Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania before moving near their eldest daughter in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2012. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Arthur Barry and their four children: Debi Bucci and husband Joe, of Virginia Beach; John Nicol and fiancé Karen, of Stanhope NJ; Dawn Bukaj and husband Mike, of Dingmans Ferry PA and David Nicol and wife Michelle, of West Milford NJ. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Elysa Bucci; Rebekah Bucci; Joseph Bucci and wife Erin; Joshua Bucci and wife Katy; Cody Smith and wife Hannah; Jonathan Bucci and fiancé Andrea and her children Sam, Ben and Eva; Marissa Nicol; Christiaan Nicol; Sarah Mazowiecki; Michael Bukaj; Charlie Bukaj; Emily Nicol; John Nicol; and one great-grandchild, Owen Smith. She is also survived by her brother James Brady and wife Dottie, of Plano TX and a sister Alice Clark and husband Jack, of Virginia Beach VA and nieces and nephews Bob Eastman and wife Elizabeth; Tracy Adams and husband Steve; Pam Nicol; and Peter Sinell.
Margaret was an accomplished poet having written mostly for personal enjoyment; her work is published in “A Far Off Place – The National Library of Poetry” which earned her the Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry. She was a creative soul and has left behind a treasure of handmade decorations and gifts to be cherished. She loved to plan parties, showers, and weddings and will be fondly remembered for the senior lunches she made special with her unique touch at Grace River Church in Virginia Beach. Margaret never felt that what she was doing was all that important but, in fact, it meant the world to so many. Margaret had a gift for using words yet there are none that can fully encompass the beautiful person she was. The name Margaret means “pearl – a saints name” which describes her heart and soul.
Following her wishes there will be no funeral. Her family has gathered together for an intimate remembrance. A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 20th at 12:00 p.m. at Grace River Church, 5045 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA. and on Saturday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Bald Eagle Village Meeting Hall, 1 Beacon Hill Road, West Milford, NJ.
