October 31, 1959 - November 14, 2019

Newport News-Daniel R. Nixon, 60, passed away November 14, 2019. He was employed as a residential/commercial painter and loved his job. He also loved cooking and spending quality time with his family. He was an avid Redskins fan and had a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elinor Anne (Marty) Nixon and brother, Michael Nixon.

Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Chris and Jesse; daughter, Heather; father, Peter; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryleigh, Dakota, Calleigh and Jensen; sister, Christine Blair and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.

Dan was a wonderful, kind, soul. We met him through his painting business but he was the kind of person that just lit up a room and was instantly a friend. He always brought treats to our horses and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Dan and his Suns painted our house about 2 years ago. Maybe a little less. Remember getting in touch again and he was in the hospital. He and his sons did a great job on our house. They were neat and cleaned up each time they had to leave. It was obvious he loved his sons and also obvious he was a good, polite man and a hard worker. I tried to contact him today and couldn't. I put his name in the search and found that he had died. He was one of the better painters. I was saddened and send my condolences to his family. He was so polite. Nancy
