Cathy Mathias, born Cathy Robin Goebel in Brooklyn, NY on February 25, 1957 passed away on February 18, 2020. Cathy grew up in Great Neck, Long Island and later moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1978.   Cathy was daughter to Harold and Gloria.

Cathy had a personality that was larger than life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her friends. you could always find her on weeks visiting the beach, at estate sales, or with her lunch buddies. She always had a smile on her face and a heart of gold. Cathy was known by many as the mermaid lady, she absolutely loved finding, giving and receiving mermaid gifts. Cathy could be described as someone who was one in a million and larger than life. She was an animal lover and someone who most people would consider family, not just a friend.

Cathy is survived by her mother, Gloria and stepfather, Leon, her children, Courtney (and Kris) and Matthew, her grandchildren, Staesha, Fiona, Mariah, and Kaleb, great grandchild, Rowen, and her siblings, Kevin, Steven, and Leslie. Cathy also leaves behind various friends who she considered family.
