Edward A. Biermann

September 3, 1954 - April 11, 2020

Edward A. “Stick” Biermann, 65, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully in his home with loved ones at his side on Saturday, April 11, 2020. Born in Oka, Guam, he was the son of the late Charles J. “Dutch” Biermann and Catherine E. “Cass” Biermann. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Charles J. “Bud” Biermann.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Gail Foster Biermann; his two sons, Ian Biermann (Beth) and Keenan Biermann; a sister, Catherine “Cassie” Biermann; three nieces, MyLan, Tina, Brittney and a great-niece, Emily; and an extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He retired from United Parcel Service after 30 years of service in 2006. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, enjoyed fishing, and once caught a 6 Lbs. 5 Oz. citation flounder. He had fond memories of surfing as a teenager with his friends. His hobbies as an adult included golf, water skiing, snow skiing, and volleyball with his Bromley Crew. He also enjoyed foosball, pool, and darts with his sons and friends. He was a loyal friend to many and considered a lot of them brothers.

The family will receive guests September 18, 2020 from 5:30 ~ 8:30 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 with a Celebration of Life service to follow on September 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

Gail, I am truly sorry for your loss. On behalf of the Brown Family I would like to offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your husband and Ian and Keenan's Dad. May Eds soul rest in peace. May all of our prayers help to bring you peace during this painful time.

Stick was an awesome fellow employee that had taken me under his wing at UPS. I was a young package handler/loader when I first met "Stick". He was a kind person to me and always told me, "just let the comments roll off your back like water does on a duck". He tired to see the humor and not really let the pressure get to him. My thoughts and prayers are with his Family.

All my love and deepest condolences to the entire family. I am lucky to have so many great memories of my time with Ed. Ed was a great friend and will be missed enormously.

I was fortunate to work with Ed at UPS. When he retired I was able to get his spot. His sense of humor was classic. We will all miss him. May he rest now. God bless his family.
