Carol Ann Margaret Craig of Virginia Beach passed away on November 27, 2020, the day after Thanksgiving. Today and always we give thanks for Carol.  Carol grew up in Saint Lambert, Quebec with two siblings, Jim and Penny. It was here that she met her husband of 52 years, Norman L. Craig.  Carol studied Nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital of Montreal where she cultivated her love of caring for others.

Carol moved with her husband, Norm, to the United States where she was a supportive Navy wife and was active in her community.

While in Texas they were blessed with their first son, Chris; later in California they were graced with their second son, Jeff.  In 1973, Carol and Norm layed down roots in Virginia Beach, Virginia where they made many lifelong friends.

Carol and Norm spent many summers of their youth and adult lives in North Hero, Vermont. Later they shared their love of this special place with their sons, family, and grandchildren.

Carol and Norm enjoyed traveling the world together and experiencing other cultures and art. Carol, having a love for art and a passion for giving to others, volunteered for many years as a master docent at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Here she also served as the Chair of the Docent Council. Carol also carried this dedication to helping others as an active member in a Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters circle.

A loving mother, Carol was always supportive of her own children and extended this love to all those who crossed her path. Carol treasured her grandchildren and doted on them celebrating each holiday and milestone with a pure heart.

Carol loved people and strangers quickly became friends.  Carol had a zest for life and was always able to put a smile on her face even during the most difficult times.  Friends and family remember Carol’s thoughtfulness and graciousness as she always made the time to reach out to others.  Even in her final days, Carol was thinking about “thank you” cards.

Carol’s memory will live on through her husband Norm, sons Chris and Jeff, daughters-in-law Allison and Jacki, her beloved grandchildren Noah, Leah, Brennan, Holden, and Finley, her siblings Penny and Jim, nieces, nephews and the many who saw her as a second mom, aunt, and friend along the way. Carol Craig will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held this summer in North Hero, Vermont when we can gather safely to celebrate Carol’s life.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Chrysler Museum of Art, the Children’s Hospital of the Kings’s Daughters, or the MSA Coalition.
