We had the pleasure of meeting Richard (Dickie) on a trip to the OBX with his sister Janet, and his nieces Jennifer, Lisa and their families. Being in the company of Dickie was like being with family. He loved conversation, kept you laughing and was a great shopping partner. While out shopping he wanted to make sure and find something special for his wife Rosemary whom we had not had the pleasure of meeting. We will cherish the times that we had with Dickie and will be praying for the family in the loss of one so special to you all.

I only met Richard a couple of years ago when I bought the house across the street from him and Rosemary. He was quiet, but always friendly. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and talking to neighbors when he felt up to it. My deepest sympathy goes to Rosemary and her entire family. May God grant them peace and healing as they adjust to life without Richard.

We met Richard in the early 70's when we moved from Baltimore to VB on Whitechapel and he was always with a smile and a good word (or 2). We became good neighbors and as he moved to the auto business I saw more of him. He was was with Green-Gifford, one of my clients, and was always on the move! So full of energy but would always stop for a chat! We were saddened by his untimely illness as he often mentioned the many items on his "Bucket list". Our deepest condolences to Rosemary, his children their wives and the many family members. Richard was a good and caring man who will greatly be missed. His life is ended but his Heavenly journey will take him to his maker where there be no suffering and he will find everlasting peace. May the calming winds be at your back. God bless you. I spent so much of my life on White Chapel Drive-that images and memories of Mr. DeLacey are naturally woven in. A prominent image is of him working in his yard. Mr. DeLacey took a lot of pride in it. He cut his lawn and edged it with skill and perfection. We all benefited-637 made our block one of the nicest in the neighborhood! And when he wasn’t busy with that, Mr. DeLacey tended to his tomato garden that he was so proud of. On summer evenings, I remember seeing Mr. DeLacey, cocktail in hand, on his way to another neighbor’s house to play cards. Chit chatting and laughing with other neighbors along the way. When he wasn’t outside, he was either in the kitchen, busy preparing a meal or baking an impromptu cake (that kitchen towel though, always flung over his shoulder)! Or reading the paper, maybe clipping some coupons in his den. His laugh was his own and funny in itself. His humor was dry and laced with sarcasm. He muttered things under his breath. :) Mr. DeLacey had some standard, random sayings that were so funny to me;“drive safe, you know those roads” and another, in a German accent, “SAY NOTHING”. Mr. DeLacey was a fixture on White Chapel. I’ve known him all of my life- he was a great guy, funny, kind... Tella-Ken-sion, sir. Mrs. DeLacey, Jen, Rick, Ashley... and the rest, the Giddens and Piepoli family are sending love and light to you during this difficult time.
