Berniece is predeceased by her husband Gherman A. Briggs, her son Steven W. Briggs, and siblings Frank Harte and Ann Bailey Garver. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn B. Czerwinski, Donna M. Briggs (Walt), and Janet B. Walsh (Dennis); and her son Gherman C. Briggs; 9 grandchildren: M. Claire, Kent, Stephen, Eric, Sarah, Mary, Michael, Lauren & Kristen; and 7 great grandchildren.
“Bee” loved her family, attending church, dancing, cooking, gardening, and children. In the Philippines she taught swimming and volunteered with injured Vietnam soldiers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 3300 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to www.alz.org or to the church.
