Adla Abdullah Ransom was born May 5,1930 to Abdullah Issa Madanat and Martha Baqaen of Jordan.

Adla was a 1943 graduate of Rosary Sisters High school, Jerusalem, and graduated from Rosary Sisters
College in 1947. She served as a missionary in Madrid, Spain and Rome, Italy for 11 years. Adla came to
America and settled in Coatesville, PA where she worked at Devereux School.

Through a mutual friend she met and married William “Pop” Ransom on March 22, 1963. It was during
this time began her lifelong love of helping people and her Madanat family. She helped with Handi-
Crafters for special needs people and owned several homes to help family and friends. In 1979 the
family moved to Hayes, VA where she established The Ransom Home for Adults and continued to help
people of the community and family until the end.

Mrs. Ransom to some, but Mom or Aunt Adla to so many, was called home on March 11, 2019
surrounded by family and friends. God blessed us with an angel and we thank Him for all that He has
allowed mom to be to her family and friends. So many feel indebted to her work, her dedication of
caring for others and, above all else, her love for them.

Adla was preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years, William “Pop” Ransom, Sr. She leaves to cherish
her memories one son, Wendell Akram Ransom Sr. and his wife, Laurie L Ransom of Hayes Va. One
daughter, Marletha Thomas and her husband, Kevin Thomas of Hayes, VA. Six grandchildren: Derek
Ransom, Briana Bogger, Ryan Ransom, Bryan Ransom, Wendell Akram Ransom Jr. “AJ”, Danielle
Angolemmo, her husband, Michael Angolemmo and one Great-granddaughter Saphira Johnson. Also, a
host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

All praises to God! Thank you Mom for everything you have done for us! So many lives have been
influenced by the works of you along with Pop. You two made a great team! Now you can rest with our
Heavenly Father, In the sweet by and by!
