With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of beloved husband, father and friend, Alvin Wade Baugh who departed this world on July 25, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on October 18, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, Alvin lived a life that was rich in love, laughter, and compassion – embodying the very essence of kindness and intelligence we should all strive to. Alvin was the cherished son of the late Luke, Sr. and Frances F. Baugh, also preceded in death by his brother Luke Baugh, Jr. and sister, Francene Dozier. Despite the profound loss of his family, Alvin remained a steadfast pillar of strength and love for those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In the wake of this loss, Alvin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Pittman Baugh, with whom he shared two daughters, Nicole Michelle and Natalie Megan Baugh, who he affectionately referred to as “his girls” and brought joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his brother Gordon Baugh and wife Malangula, sister-in-law Marcell, nieces Stacey, Patrice, and Damika, nephews Marques and Virmaine, as well as a host of family and friends.

Alvin’s educational journey began at Booker T. Washington High School where he graduated in 1969 and built a foundation for a life dedicated to learning and curiosity. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War before attending and graduating from Old Dominion University where he majored in Industrial Arts Education. His career spanned various fields and industries including positions at Curtex, Modernizations, Norfolk Public Schools, and VDOT where he was known for his work ethic, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Alvin’s colleagues admired him not just for his professionalism, but also for his ability to uplift those around him with his humor and kindness.

Beyond his professional life, Alvin was a passionate photographer, a skilled woodworker, an avid jazz and rock music fan, and an overall handyman who could conquer any challenge he put his mind to. His creativity shone through in every project he undertook, and he found immense joy in capturing the beauty of the world around him through his work. His hobbies were more than just pastimes – they were expressions of his spirit, and he shared them generously with family and friends. Known for his funny, intelligent, and steadfast character, Alvin touched the lives of many. His laughter could fill a room, and his wisdom guided those in need. A friend to all, he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind – a legacy of love, resilience, courage, laughter, and light. His spirit will continue to guide us as we cherish the memories we shared. AWB will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

In accordance with Alvin’s wishes, a private service will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
