Amaury Rijos Sanchez, a devoted husband, father, and man of faith, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia. He was 49 years old.

Born on June 23, 1976, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Amaury was the beloved son of Carmen Sanchez and the late Horacio Rijos. From a young age, he demonstrated a passion for life and a deep commitment to his faith, which would guide him throughout his years.

Amaury’s professional journey led him to Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked as a skilled welder and pipe fitter. His dedication to his craft was evident in the quality of his work and the respect he earned from his colleagues.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Amaury was a man of diverse interests and passions. He found great joy in serving God and was an active member of Oasis de Vida church, where he spent countless hours studying scripture and sharing his faith with others. His spiritual devotion was the cornerstone of his life, bringing him immense joy and fulfillment.

Amaury also had a zest for adventure, embracing extreme sports such as skydiving and zip lining. He cherished every moment spent with his family and friends, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and connection. His love for travel allowed him to explore new places and cultures, enriching his life and those around him.

He was a proud holder of an associate degree in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering, which complemented his professional endeavors and personal interests.

Amaury is survived by his loving wife, Norma Ivelisse Davila Vega, and their three children: Amarylisse Rijos Davila, Abimelec Rijos Davila, and Jahdiel D. Ortiz Davila. He also leaves behind his sister, Janice Rijos, his cherished mother, Carmen Sanchez, and his adored grandchildren, Maya and Arya. Amaury’s legacy will be forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In his passing, Amaury joins his father, Horacio Rijos, in eternal rest. His memory will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, reminding us of the power of faith, love, and the joy of living life to its fullest.
