Andrew “Andy” Horn, 74 passed away on July 20, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Horn; his brother, John Horn; and his daughter, Doreen Cooley.

Andrew was an avid John Wayne fan but loved all Western movies. He enjoyed watching old horror movies and just about all sports. In his earlier years Andrew enjoyed bowling and often competed in leagues. On Saturdays Andrew would be found teaching the youth how to bowl. He loved taking walks and eating at IHOP, always ordering blueberry pancakes, a side of sausage, and a cup of coffee. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader during his time in Georgia. But out of all the things he enjoyed and loved, Andrew’s favorite pastime was spending time with his great-grandchildren.

There wasn’t a stranger that he met. Andrew talked to everyone everywhere he went. He was selfless as he was always putting others before himself. He was strong willed and the strongest man his family and friends ever knew.

Andrew’s family and friends often called him everything but his name. He was known by all as: Andy, Dad, Daddy, Gramps, Pops and Old Man. He truly enjoyed all of his nicknames and always smiled when his children and grandchildren lovingly referred to him as the happiest grump ever and stubborn as a mule.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Donna (Anthony), Denise, Erika (Mike), and Tiffany; his grandchildren: Brett, Michael, Matt (Becca), Megan, Jordis, and Noel; and his great-grandchildren: Blake, Annabelle, and Joey. Andrew also leaves behind his adopted family: Heather; Kama and Rebekah, along with their children: Naya, Natalia, Nazario, Nakari, Nova, Alana, Landon, Jy, Aaliyah, Alyssa, Harmony, and Ky; Lora and her children: Jacob, Allison, and Joey; and Janine and Jassen and their children: Jaycee, Jassen Jr., and L.J.

He was the Best Dad, Popa and Gramps ever! The rock, the glue, and the strength behind all of us! We love you!!

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Andrew on Saturday, August 13^th, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred Heutte Center located at 1000 Botetourt Gardens, Norfolk, VA 23507. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. If you wish to send flowers, please contact the family as the service location is unattended during the day.

it has almost been 8 months since God called you home. Some days hurt worse than others. Sometimes it feels like you left us only yesterday and then other days it seems like it has been years. I stare at your picture's on my wall often. I wish I could just come down and see you in the apartment. I am trying to do my best with the promise I made you! We all miss you! Love you dad!

I miss you so much. I miss your calls, I miss you sleeping in my chair, I miss our talks about the kids and how it was being a grandparent(great grand parent for him). Every where we go or whatever we do, I am looking for you to be their. You have left such a huge hole in my heart. You are the one person that affected and touched so many lives. Now, we have to try and redefine our lives as the center of our world has left us to be in a much better place. I love you Dad!

I miss you so much! I miss your calls, I miss you falling asleep in my chair, I miss all of the "grandparent" talks we used to have, comparing notes about Anna and Blake. You were the glue that held so peoples lives together and you didnt even know it. I have been so lost without you. Looking for you everywhere...I am proud and humbled to have you as my Dad, there truly was no one better. Keep watch over the three younger ones as they will need your wisdom and guidance moving forward. I love you!

I sure do miss you. I miss my phone calls and seeing you sleeping in the chair. I miss our talks about being grandparents, well great grandparent for you. We never really got to know him well, but my wife and I always looked forward to our passing conversations whenever we walked the dog or headed out on the town. After a long day, it was nice to come home and see his smiling face on his porch. A friendlier man you'd be hard-pressed to find. He will definitely be missed.

The reality has not set in yet. We all keep waiting for you to show up. You were always there for every important event in all of our lives and it takes a special person to make that happen. You told me often that you are keeping it together for the three little ones and that you lived for them and their happiness. Dad I promise I will do my best to continue on with your legacy with Blake, Annabelle and Joey. We love you so dearly and miss you so much!

Well grumpy stubborn old man ,thank you for always being there for our kids , they are so broken hearted as they lost their daddy , the constant in their lives I could always depend on you when it came to the girls and for that I will always be grateful that you loved them dearly. My dad wasn't around when I was growing up, I remember on the weekends, when Tiffany (my sister) would go over her dad's (Andy) that sometimes he would let me come over too, and he never treated me any different, he bought us Christmas gifts growing up, and was always around, Andy was a good guy, he wasn't obligated to do anything for me, but he did, and that says ALOT! I love you Erika and Tiffany, just know he's watching over you guys from above!

Gramps had the biggest heart. Always made sure my kids were doing ok and staying on track in life. He's going to be missed greatly by all.
