Angelina Evangelina Cayaso Stewart was born on September 13, 1940. Her last day with us was December 17, 2025. Angelina Stewart served in the United States Army beginning in 1974 in both active duty and reserves for four years. She was a Panamanian native, and moved to the United States in 1967 and lived in the Carolina’s until 2018, when she moved to Virginia.
The mother of our family was the heart of our family and a truly special woman. She showed her love through her cooking, always making sure no one ever left her presence hungry. She also had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, filling our lives with music and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to dance and celebrate life. She believed deeply in hard work and lived by that value every day of her life, providing for her family by any means necessary.
She was a constant source of laughter, joy, and love, and she treasured every moment spent with her family. Her strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will never be forgotten. She was an incredibly loving woman whose legacy lives on through the family she nurtured so faithfully.
Angelina was preceded in passing by her loving mother Flobel Cayaso, beloved daughter Michelle Brooks, beloved great-grandchild Lane, her sisters Hertenica Robinson and Elsa Brown, and her brothers Junior, Orlando and Deto Brooks that we are sure greeted her with warm smiles.
Angelina is survived by her daughters, Angela Carter, Carolyn Stewart, and Alice Houston; grandchildren, Derrick Brooks, Maria Brooks, Sabrina Brooks, Ira Brooks, Ansonio Carter, Amilio Carter, Alicia Barnes, Kayla Houston, and Robert Houston III; as well as her great grandchildren, Jericho, Sienna, Olivia, Cassandra, Maliyah, Elijah, Harrison, Hudson, Lily, Levi Brooks; her siblings Lelito and Marcito and long time friend Anthony Tony Jackson.
We take comfort in knowing that she has been called home to rest in the loving arms of the Lord. Though our hearts grieve, our faith assures us that we will see her again. Her spirit, love, and faith will continue to guide and watch over us always.
