Portsmouth, VA – Ann B. Golden, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at her home in Portsmouth, VA, at the age of 85. Born on August 3, 1940, in Richmond, VA, Ann lived a life marked by devotion to her family and a deep spiritual faith that guided her journey.
Throughout her career, Ann worked as a dedicated secretary at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), where she was known for her professionalism and warm demeanor. Her colleagues remember her as a kind-hearted individual who always had a smile and a word of encouragement for everyone she met. Ann was also a partner with Southern Yankee Guns and traveled to gun shows where she sold company merchandise. She loved the outdoors, gardening and flowers and any type of yardwork.
Ann’s life was enriched by her spiritual pursuits, which brought her great comfort and joy. She found peace and strength in her beliefs, which she shared generously with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ross Britton and Mary Ann Rutherford Britton and her sister, Mary Shifferly, whose memories she cherished deeply. Ann leaves behind a loving family, including her son, Robert Livingston, daughter, Amy Livingston, grandson, Daniel Battle and additional family and friends, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this time of loss.
