Arlene Norma Spencer passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021. She was a native of Massachusetts, but lived in Newport News, Virginia for 61 years. Arlene attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Guild and participated in the Greetings 2 You Club. She liked to go to craft shows, watch television and especially loved her Mother and Daughter days with Laurie.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and John Gaige; her son, Kenneth Spencer; grandson, Jeremy Cooper; sister, Marie McNulty and two brothers, Al and Robert Gaige.

Arlene was a loving Mother, Wife, & Grandmother. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, of 65 years, William Spencer; her son, Stephen Spencer; daughter, Laurie Blair;  6 Grandchildren Jason Lyon, Brian Cooper, Chris Cooper, Rhys Spencer, Sean Spencer & Krystal Spencer and1 Great-grandson, Justin Spencer. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Gaige and many other extended family members and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all of them.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 at 11:00 am., officiated by Father Beeman, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 100 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601.

Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.
