Austin O. Baez, our beloved brother, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021 at the age of 72. Boyet, as we fondly called him was born on November 13, 1949 in Manila Children’s Hospital to Eulalia Olarte Baet and Faustino D. Baet, Sr.
He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Architecture. He established a firm in Manila, Arch Haus and worked in Singapore and the Middle East before moving to the United States.
He was a happy spirit and loved his children and grandsons. He derived joy from gardening, cooking, traveling and was unbeatable in mahjong against friends and family.
Boyet emigrated in 2000 and worked the Barnes Design Group, a Virginia Beach architectural firm that designs beautiful churches and other buildings. He worked part-time as a landscaper.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ethel Lee B. Carino and Sherry Lee B. Zamar, sons-in-law, Pastor Michael Carino and John Felix Zamar, two grandsons, Josiah Kairos B. Carino and Joaquin David B. Zamar. Additionally, his siblings include: Nora Dorsey, Samuel Baet, Wilfredo Baet, Reuel Baet, Ruth Hauser, Jonathan Baet and Lalaine Stricklan.
