Barbara A. Ambrose, age 83, of  3801 Marniers Drive, Hayes, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home  on November 14, 2019. Barbara was born on May 11, 1936 in Norfolk, Virginia to Helen and Charles W. Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Wilson “Flash” of 50 years.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her two daughters, Tina Ambrose and fiancée, Derek Champ, of Hayes, VA; Sharon Lewis and her husband, Andy, of Hampton, VA; and her son, Charles Ambrose and his wife, Marissa, of Hampton, VA.  She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lainy Ambrose, Hunter Ambrose and Braden Ambrose; and four great grandchildren, Nina Merron, Damon Presley, Raelynn Presley and Carson Ambrose.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and lived life to its fullest. She loved the simple things in life and loved to cook. The neighborhood kids always called her Miss A and loved her dearly. She had the uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and always left a loving and endearing impression on everyone she met.  Barbara was a fun loving person who enjoyed getting together with her friends and having a great time. She was a proud business owner for over 40 years of Brose’s Subs and Flash’s Mobile Lunch on Virginia Beach Boulevard in Norfolk, VA. She also loved to dance and was a devoted member of the Virginia Beach Shag Club where she served as President. To know Barbara was to love her and she leaves behind many beautiful memories to cherish.

In compliance with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no funeral; however, those who wish to gather in celebration  of  her life are welcome to join the family at AJ Gators in Fairfield Shopping Center, VA Beach, on Saturday, 11/23, at 3:00 P.M.  Hors d’oeuvres will be provided and entrees and drinks can be purchased.
