Betty Joe Eller, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 2, 2025, in Urbanna, Virginia. Born on December 13, 1970, in Kenansville, North Carolina, she graced this world with her presence for 54 years.
Betty’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and boundless love for her family. She was an avid Christian who believed deeply in the scriptures, reading her Bible daily and never shying away from preaching the gospel. Her dedication to her faith was matched only by her commitment to helping others; before becoming chronically ill, she volunteered tirelessly, always eager to lend a hand wherever needed.
Professionally, Betty served as the activities director at Wallace Gardens, where her creativity and compassion touched many lives. Later, she channeled her artistic talents into “Shell Yeah,” a business she owned, creating beautiful art from shells that reflected her love for nature and beauty.
Betty was a member of numerous churches across eastern North Carolina, where she was known as a saver of souls and a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her legacy of faith and service will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Meissner, and her brother, Kenny Meissner Jr. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Eller of Urbanna, Virginia; her sons, Joshua White and Bryan White of Pocomoke, Maryland; her grandson, Lance White; her mother, Eve Musselwhite of Wilmington, North Carolina; her sister, Linda Meissner of Oslo, Norway; and her daughters-in-law, Jade Morse and Tara White of Pocomoke, Maryland.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on October 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Tabor Park in Urbanna, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, faith, and service.
