Betty Marie (Bakke) Zwerg, 80, died on April 28, 2024, in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born on September 21, 1943, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Gerhart and Geraldine Bakke. In her early years, she resided in Menomonie and later Madison, Wisconsin. Betty was a 1961 graduate of Madison Central High School. She met John Zwerg while a student at Northwestern University, and married him on August 10, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas. For the next twenty-two years she lived on various Air Force installations in the US. For the past thirty-five years, Betty has lived in Williamsburg. Betty loved to travel and wanted to see the world. After her husband’s retirement, they traveled throughout the Americas, Africa, Australia, Asia, and Europe. Betty was also an avid watercolor artist. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, John, and her children; Anne and David, two grandchildren; Amy and Sabina, two brothers; Gary and Bill, her sister Peggy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
