It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Blaine Matthew Fritzman on November 6, 2025, in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. Blaine was a beacon of strength and inspiration, whose life was characterized by dedication, love, and service to others.

Blaine’s journey with Norfolk Fire Rescue began in November 2007 when he joined the intern program. His passion and commitment quickly propelled him forward, becoming a recruit in July 2010 and reporting to his first assignment at Station 9A in 2011. Most recently, Blaine served as an engine operator at Station 10, where he was admired for his unwavering dedication and courage. He inspired countless individuals with his selfless service and steadfast resolve.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Blaine was a man of varied interests. He found joy in hunting, which allowed him to connect with nature, as well as cooking, a passion his Fire Rescue family certainly appreciated. Above all, Blaine’s family and especially his children were his everything. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love knew no bounds.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Nichole Fritzman, to whom he was married for 14 years and together for 18 years. He also leaves behind their two cherished children, Austin and Mckenzie Fritzman; his loving parents, Shelley and James Fritzman; his parents-in-law: Debbie and Chase Rayburn, and David and Elaine Austin; his brother, Blake Fritzman; his niece, Dakotah Maas-Fritzman; his brother-in-law, Cory Austin; and his sister-in-law, Tiffany Austin. His extended family includes his brothers and sisters of Norfolk Fire Rescue, along with many relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Norfolk Fire Rescue Training Center, located at 7120 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23505. All who were touched by Blaine’s spirit are invited to attend and honor his remarkable life.
