Virginia Beach- Bonita (Bonnie) Gayle Mathews, 68, beloved wife and mother, died of traumatic brain injury on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Bonnie was born in Richmond, VA on February 8, 1950. She began her career with the Virginia Beach Public Library and retired as an Information Specialist II from Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. Bonnie enjoyed her retirement by traveling, visiting her family, and focusing on her creative interests. She was an especially avid knitter and loved spending time perfecting her craft. Her laughter was infectious; her love for her family and friends was immeasurable. Our world will never be the same without her. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Louis Scott Mathews, her daughter Jennifer Mathews Kim, her son-in-law Matthew Minchul Kim, and her cherished grandchildren Samuel and Grace. Bonnie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
