On December 9, 2025, surrounded by love and family, Brenda Marie Trefry passed away peacefully in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 72. Born on September 8, 1953, in Virginia, Brenda lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Brenda devoted many years to her work as a Sales Secretary in a real estate office, a display of her unwavering commitment and cheerful spirit, but her true vocation was being a devoted mother and Mimi. She found immense joy in nurturing her family, always providing support and love to her children and grandchildren.
Her zest for life was evident in her many interests. Brenda delighted in the simple pleasures, whether picking blue crabs, enjoying a cold Miller Lite, or cheering for the Washington Redskins with unwavering enthusiasm. She cherished her time by the beach, with her faithful dog, Jake often by her side, soaking in the beauty of the world around her.
In her earlier years, Brenda was an active member of the VFW, reflecting her passion for community and genuine connection. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met, fostering a wide circle of friends who cherished her dearly.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Walter and Margaret Garman, her husband, Roger Trefry, and her granddaughter, Megan Nichole. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her children, Erik (Carolyn) Beebe and Erin (John) Thousand; her adored grandchildren, Kaylie Marie, Matthew Allen, Emma Margaret, Mason Lee, and Adam Bradley; her brother Walter (Rhonda) Garman; and countless dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at New Realm Brewery from 1-3PM, where all who loved Brenda will come together to honor her remarkable life and enduring spirit. Brenda’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and joy—a testament to the beautiful life she lived and the indelible mark she leaves on those who knew her.
