Carol Ellen Wadovick passed away peacefully on May 29, 2020, at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital Hospice in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Carol was born on February 1, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to Myron Albert Zornow and Ruth Louise Stinchcomb.
Carol attended the Berea Ohio Public Schools and graduated in 1960 from Kent State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten and second grade for seven years in the Berea Public School System. She left teaching in 1966 to raise three children. She later returned to teach and operate her own preschool for 24 years in Berea and Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Carol loved her summer home in Marblehead, Ohio on Lake Erie and enjoyed 32 years on her boats, and spending time with family, neighbors and visitors. She was involved with the Bay Point Yacht Club on the beach as flag officer and in running the bar. The boat trips to Canada were always a favorite time. She was thrilled to find the small town in England where her family originated. A time share on Fort Myers Beach led to a home in Florida in the Gateway area of Fort Myers for 15 years. Her passion was the Gateway Women’s Club and the quilt making group at the church for the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers.
Carol married in June of 1961 to David whom she met in 1948 in elementary school. She was the loving mother of Jeffrey (Renee Toth), Sarah Joan (Scott Sullivan), and John (Wendy Prentice). She held special love for her ten grandchildren: Jamie, Andrew, Jodie, Alex, Ian, Heidi, Annie, Avery, Tanner and Emma. She is survived by her sister Loreen Kay (Pat) Ott, her niece Lesley (Steve) Conder and nephews Robert (Lisa) and Rick (Barbara) and her grandnieces and grandnephews.
A service at the Gateway Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Myers, Florida is planned for the near future and internment will be at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburgh Heights, Ohio in September. Cremation was arranged by Cremation Society of Virginia.
