Claude “Chris” William Walck, of Virginia Beach, Va, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 2, 1934, in Rahway, New Jersey, Chris lived a life marked by honor, service, and devotion to his family.
Chris graduated from N. Plainfield HS, N. Plainfield, NJ and earned his associate degree from Albright College in Reading, PA. Thereafter, he entered the US Navy’s basic flight school in Pensacola, FL proudly serving his country as a pilot and Naval Officer for 25 years, earning his Bachelor of Arts International Relations at Naval Post Graduate School and his Masters in Public Administration at Golden Gate University. His military career took him across the globe and left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he continued his commitment to public service as the Director of Customer Service for the City of Virginia Beach, where his leadership and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community alike. Chris was also a leader for many years in the Boy Scouts of America and served his church faithfully.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Janet B. Walck, parents, George and Florence Walck, brother George Walck, sister Julie Main and great grandson, Hunter.
A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Janet Walck, Chris was the cornerstone of a large and loving family. He is survived by his children: Kevin (Camy), Jeffrey (Sue), Warren (Rita), Robin Burkey (Monte) and Stephen (Kim). His legacy lives on in his grandchildren – Danielle DePlacido (Joe), Dr. Natalie Meeks (Brett), Blaine (Cindy), Jeffrey Jr. (Kelly), Tracy Ward, Christopher (Elizabeth), Jamie, Robert, William, Tori, Tyler, Brandon, Drew (Melissa) and in his 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by Lois DeLoatche, his loving companion in his later years.
Chris will be remembered for his strong sense of duty, his unwavering love for his family, and his quiet strength. He led with dignity, listened with compassion, and gave generously of his time and wisdom.
A memorial service to celebrate Chris’s life will be held on July 11, 2025 at 12:00, Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA with visitation starting at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either Boy Scouts of America at Tidewater Council at www.tidewaterbsa.com or American Red Cross at www.redcross.org, causes close to Chris’s heart.
