Charles Sanford “Uncle” Heaton Jr, of Newport News, VA passed peacefully on June 29, 2024.

Charles was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville NC.

He was born in Greenville, SC to Charles Sanford Heaton and Annie Laurie Norrell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bobbe; brother, John; and sister in law, Sherry.

He leaves behind a nephew, Geoff (Beth and Tate) of Hendersonville, NC; and and a niece, Stephanie (Travis) of Newport News, VA.

He resided in Newport News the last 14 years with Stephanie, Travis, pups Hetty and Ricky, whom he spoiled daily.

Charles served in the USAF for 13 years active duty and 15 years reserve duty. One tour during the Vietnam war, where he managed 99 war dogs as a veterinary technician and was awarded the bronze star.

Following his military service he worked with the USPS until he retired.

Charles was a selfless man that knew the importance of family and friends.

He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside memorial will be held at later date.
