Chesapeake- Charles V. Creech, Jr. 1/20/1925 – 5/13/2018
On the wings of angels, Capt. Creech flew his last mission on May 13, 2018. Known to many as Charlie or CV, he was born on January 20, 1925 to the late Charles and Eloise Creech of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his wife Lita Allen and daughter Ann Carter Creech.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters Carol Guylitto (Ran), Corey Lankford (Greg), Lynda Gorman (Bob); sister Pat Owens; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
He was a graduate of Granby High School and attended the Citadel Military College in South Carolina. He served in World War II and Korea. His passion for flying led him to join the Air Force; achieving the rank of Captain prior to his discharge. Upon retirement he went to work for Overton’s Dry Cleaners and Laundry Mats.
He was an accomplished musician; winning state champion with his accordion at the age of 15. He then played piano with the popular country band known as the Virginia Rounders.
His early years were not known to many. Dad was very humble and always the officer and gentleman.
Dad, you leave behind a wonderful legacy. Now rest, join Mom and as they say “enjoy the wild blue yonder.”
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday May 25, 2018 11:00am at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.
