Christine Elizabeth Lake, 53, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Born September 4, 1967 in Charleston, South Carolina. She spent most of her life in Virginia Beach where she attended Skillquest and The Center for Effective Learning.
Some people make the world brighter just by being in it. Christine will be fondly remembered for the positive impact that she had on so many lives. We deeply cherish the time that we shared and the lessons we learned from her.
Christine had a zest for life. She was usually the first one to laugh at a joke. She enjoyed listening to music, attending plays, Mother-Daughter Book Club, competing in games like Yatzee, traveling (especially at fast speeds), racing in the Shamrock Marathon and the Rock & Roll Half Marathon thanks to Team Hoyt, and watching sports with loved ones. She was an avid Admirals Hockey fan and season ticket holder for 25 seasons.
Christine was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Lake; maternal grandparents Theresa and Louis Silady; paternal grandparents Marion and James Lake; Uncles Jacob Silady (Helen) and Louis Silady, and Aunt Ruth Oldham (Walter).
Love does not die. Christine is missed, and love for her will be carried on by her mother, Elizabeth Lake; brother Gerald Lake and wife Suzanne of Franklin, TN; brother Jason Lake of Dillwyn, VA; nieces Isabella and Elise; nephews Jacob and Jackson; Aunt Dorothy Silady; Uncles James Lake and Joseph Lake; lifelong friend Leroy Benz; supportive friend Frances Rayburn; Christine’s best friend and second mother Shirley Green; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Christine’s family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the staff who served her during the past thirteen years while she resided at the Intermediate Care for the Medically Fragile at West Neck. They were her guardian angels. The family is also grateful to Dr. Anitha Murthy of Tidewater Kidney Specialists for her kindness and care.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Steve DeLeon officiating.
