Clifton Rhodes, 92, transitioned peacefully on August 14, 2021. Clifton was born to Isadora Rhodes on May 8, 1929 in North Carolina. In 1975, he married his late wife, Betty Jean Rhodes. Together they raised three children, and spent many years laughing, and making countless memories.
Clifton enlisted in the United States Marines and served during World War II. Following his career in the military, Clifton worked as a contractor for over twenty years. Clifton enjoyed meeting new people, and spending time in the community of Newport News, which he so proudly called home.
Throughout his life, Clifton enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren, extended family members, and close friends. Clifton leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Clifton Rhodes Jr., Andre Austin, and one daughter, Sharon Perez (Raymond), all of Hampton, Virginia. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members, and a dear friend, Ms. Vickie.
The family will hold a private service, and Mr. Rhodes will be laid to rest at Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
