Cliff Sharp, a devoted husband, loving father, proud U.S. Navy veteran, and respected crane technician, passed away on July 26, 2025, at his home. With the support of his loved ones by his side, he peacefully ended a brave fight against glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
He leaves behind his incredibly strong wife, Meg Sharp; two sons, Declan and Collin (and his wife Morgan); honorary son Timothy; and his siblings Chris (and his wife Kelly), Thomas (and his wife Marilu), Becky (and her husband Eric), and Carolyn (and her husband Andy).
Cliff served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Technician went on to build a successful career as an electrician and crane technician at the Virginia International Terminal. Known for his steady hands, generous spirit, and unwavering loyalty, Cliff was always the one friends and neighbors turned to when something needed fixing—or when they simply needed a friend.
In April 2024, Cliff’s life changed when he was diagnosed with glioblastoma. He faced the disease with extraordinary strength, undergoing surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy with determination and hope. Even in the most difficult moments, his love for his family and his unshakable sense of humor never wavered.
When Cliff was working to recover at home, Meg cared for him daily with unwavering devotion, while their sons watched with admiration as their father met unimaginable challenges with quiet dignity.
Cliff was always the one who showed up for others—quick to lend a hand, share his time, or offer a solution. His family is deeply grateful to the community that has returned that love and support during his final chapter.
A memorial service to celebrate Cliff’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601. A celebration of his life will follow—details to be announced.
