Connie Preston Anderson, 76, left her earthly body on October 18, 2023. Connie was born July 8, 1947, in Kermit, West Virginia. In 1967, at a bus station in Norfolk, Virginia, she met the love of her life, Richard Anderson Sr. Shortly after, they were married and went on to have two sons, Richard and Wesley Anderson. After a 30-year career as a long-distance operator with AT&T, Connie retired and dedicated her time and energy to her five grandchildren, who remained, until her death, her greatest source of love and joy.

Connie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Conrad and Mary Wills Preston; husband, Richard Nelson Anderson Sr; sisters, Florene Preston Maynard and Rachel Preston Marcum. She is survived by her sons Richard Anderson II (Yvette Anderson) and Wesley Anderson (Brandi Anderson); 5 grandchildren, Taylor Anderson, 24, Sergeant Gage Anderson, 22, Reece Anderson, 21, Richard “Ansel” Anderson, 20, and Jackson Anderson 17; sisters, Dorothy Preston, Mary Barnett, and Debra Brant; brother, John Preston and along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request a donation to the Norfolk Zoo in Norfolk, Virginia, or the American Cancer Society.
